The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a thorough review of good practices for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria on Thursday.
The report, entitled “Pediatric Gender Dysphoria Treatment: Review of Testing and Good Practices”, was published by the Office of the Deputy Health Secretary and Office of Population Affairs.
“This review, informed of an evidence -based medicine approach, reveals serious concerns about medical interventions, such as puberty blockers, cross hormones, and surgeries, trying to travel children and adolescents away from their sex,” said a statement from HHS.

These types of “gender -based” treatments are recommended by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPAH).

The report highlights the evidence of risks associated with gender -related treatments, including irreversible infertility, sexual dysfunction, reduction of bone density, adverse cognitive impacts, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, psychiatric disorders, surgical complications and repentance.
It also cites “very weak evidence of profit”.

The authors also questioned the ethics that surrounds medical interventions for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria.
“HHS believes that medical ethics should be central to this debate,” the statement said.

According to HHS, a team of doctors, medical ethics and a methodologist contributed to the review.
“Collaborators represent a wide range of political views and were chosen by their commitment to scientific principles.”

“It is our duty to protect children from our nation, not to expose them to unpromited and irreversible medical interventions,” said Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, director of the NIH, in the statement. “We must follow the Gold Standard of Science, not activist agendas.”

Mark Trammell, the CEO of the Center for American Libera (CAL), said that the new HHS report confirms that the “medical mutilation” of children suffering from gender dysphoria “is not only compatible with credible scientific tests, but also pursuing serious risks of a lifetime.”
