Tyler Bernadyn: Building a business in service, not sales

This morning, while sitting on a plane tied to Las Vegas, I can’t help, but reflect on the journey she brought here. I am going to the Global Re/Max R4 Congress, where I will have the extraordinary opportunity to speak on stage and share knowledge with real estate professionals from around the world. There is a moment that feels both humble and surreal.

I received my real estate license in 2018, and like many starting in this industry, I was partial at first, balancing my work and life while understanding my way. In 2021 between Covid and uncertainty, I made the full -time step, fully committed to serving homeowners and investors throughout Newport County and the rest of Rhode Island. Since then, I have had the privilege of helping hundreds of clients finding success – it would mean buying their first home, selling a loving family property or providing an investment that would shape their future. Just last year, I sold 44 houses and completed 51 rental transactions, but these numbers show only part of the story.

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions a person will make – but most importantly, is one of the most emotions. We often talk about “Divorce, divorce, diamonds and trimming. All of these represent key chapters of life, and they must approach empathy and care. Coming from a background of hospitality, I have always believed that my business is built in service, not for sale. Immovable property has nothing to do with the push of someone into an agreement – it is to listen, lead and help them make the right decisions about their unique situation. I think this approach is what has divided me into a crowded room and allowed me to develop my business completely with reference. When someone trusts me enough to recommend my services to a friend or family member, it means everything. It is a testimony of the work I have done and the care I receive with each transaction. Last year, I helped my brother Trevor and my cousin Sarah bought home here at Rhode Island. I helped to keep a local family on the island, a goal they thought was impossible when we first started looking for home. These kinds of transactions are my “why” in business, and it is what gets it from my bed and excited to go to work every morning.

Looking forward, I see tremendous opportunities for both buyers and sellers in 2025. Inventory is expected to increase, but competition remains strong, meaning buyers will still find themselves in multiple situations during spring and summer. That is why having professional representation is more important than ever. There is no replacement for guidance from someone who understands market dynamics, negotiation strategy and price analytics. Just this weekend, we waited for two properties for two properties I ranked – 317 Avenue Berkeley in Middletown and 451 Westmorland Lane in Saunderstown. The answer was great. We had over 45 buyers only 317 Berkeley, and both houses are ready to sell the price required with numerous offers. This is not by accident – it’s the strategy. I take a data -driven, analytical approach to prices and combine it with marketing and strong exposure (including my partnership with Whatsupnewp) to ensure that each list reaches the wider group of ready -made buyers, ready and capable. The goal is always to create a competitive environment that maximizes the value for my vendors.

Beyond my production, I am very proud of what we are building on new results/max. When we opened our doors in September 2023, our vision was clear: we wanted a broker built on the concentration of the community and the results directed. Today, with over 35 agents serving all Rhode Island, we are giving that promise.
